From lively and outgoing, to introspective and lyrical, Baroque was the first musical style to incorporate vocal motifs, improvisation and lavish embellishments into its structure. |
This concert celebrates popular contemporary hits with classical connections, including Procol Harum’s “A Whiter Shade of Pale“ (loosely based on Bach‘s Air on the G String) and “Strangers in Paradise” (based on Borodin’s Polovetsian Dances) from the Broadway musical Kismet. |
Join us as MCE hosts the regional finals of the annual Harmony Sweepstakes A Cappella Festival. The event spotlights the Northwest’s top a cappella groups who dazzle audiences with exquisite harmonies, complex arrangements, and vocal imitations of percussion instruments. The winning group will compete in the National Finals. The Masterworks Choral Ensemble (MCE) is an adult Southwest Washington chorus dedicated to performance, community service, music education, and leadership in the arts. The mission is to perform sacred and secular choral, orchestral, and new commissioned works; to collaborate with other arts groups; to participate in community service activities; and to provide a leadership in developing, sponsoring, and broadening the vocal arts.
